More than meets the eye in Miallo








There has been a great deal of interest over the last few years, mainly from out of state investment companies, looking to secure large parcels of land for future development the main concern has been is the farm a going concern and is it able service the investment in the short to medium term.

Many believe that while size is an important factor the infrastructure has a great bearing, 254 acres is not a large property but that has not stopped this well run arable farm from turning a profit and its not all related to what can be grown.

There is no reason why this high yield arable land can not continue to grow sugar cane but would be quite suitable for the production of other crops as well. Most years the farm would produce around 7,000 tones of sugar cane. 2005 produced 5000 tons of sugar, and the 2006 season it is expected to be 6000 tons.

The quite large main farmhouse is low set on stumps, of timber frame construction with polished timber floors and wooden casement windows. The exterior has recently been repainted. The four spacious bedrooms are all air conditioned as is the large lounge. There is an office, double carport and front patio. This house would make an ideal family home as it is spacious and within cycling distance to the Miallo State Primary School.

The Saint Augustine's Private Primary School and the Mossman State High School are only ten minutes away by school bus. James Cook University has an external campus in Cairns where a number of local students commute daily to.
